RADIO DAYS, ZEN TEACHER-STYLE

Kelly Croy, also known as The Wired Educator, was kind enough to invite me to be a guest on his semi-eponymous podcast, which you can find here

We had a great time putting it together and I’ll hope you’ll check it out.  You’ll hear about how my original plans were to be a rock star, how breathing is the beginning of everything, and how focus, simplicity, and tranquility as an educator is within reach.

I’m so grateful to Kelly for the chance to spread The Zen Teacher message and appreciate him giving me the platform to talk about these very important topics.  This was the third podcast I’ve been involved with, but the first one to be posted, and when I heard what I sound like outside my own body it was very necessary for me to embrace the very Zen concept of (self-) acceptance.

In any event, I hope you’ll enjoy what was a super fun conversation and, as always, I hope you’ll reach out if you have any questions or are interested in having me as a guest on your podcast, a moderator for your Twitter chat, or a presenter at a PD workshop for your district or school staff.

                WANNA HANG OUT?

I’ve been thinking about the best way to help teachers create peace in 2016, so I’d like to share an idea I had and ask for some feedback.

I’ve started giving Zen Teacher workshops (and the response has been amazing!), but not everyone can always go where I’m presenting.  In 2016, however, that isn’t completely necessary. Consequently, I’ve been pondering on-line courses, teleseminars, webinars, and private coaching as ways to teach educators methods they can use to create focus, simplicity, and tranquility in their lives and in their classrooms.

And then I was reminded of Google Hangouts and thought that might be a great place to start!   I’m new to the technology, but I am absolutely excited about its possibilities!  Google Hangout allows multiple participants to sign up and participate, Skype-style, in a video conversation. If you haven’t seen it in action, think of The Jetsons on Steroids! (Am I dating myself with that reference?).

So I’m now considering holding some Zen Teacher classes using Google Hangout. The classes would be on topics like meditation, mindfulness, compassion, de-cluttering, stillness, and various other Zen Teacher concepts. The great thing is that, even though there would be a space limit, you could basically come to the ones that interest you and skip the others. I’d like to keep them free at first, but at some point it may be necessary to charge depending on my availability, the time/effort investment, and teacher demand.

But first, to gauge everyone’s interest, I’ve created an anonymous two question Google Form (Only two questions! How Zen is that?) where you simply answer “yes” or “no” as to whether you would be interested in such a class. It would be very helpful if you would take a minute and let me know what you think because not only do I want to make sure I’m not the only one there, but because I’ve heard that data is very important in education. 🙂

I am very excited at the prospect of holding Zen Teacher Hangouts. I think we’d have a lot of fun along the road to learning how to create some more peace and focus for ourselves.

Thank you in advance for your feedback, and I look forward to your responses.

Namaste.

Dan
