Life is not perfect.

There are some things going on.

But this moment?

This one right here?

It’s pretty good.

In fact, it might even be perfect.

Just as it is.

Even though I’m worried about my mother and fathers’ health.

Even though there are severe health issues in my own immediate family.

But this moment?

This moment is pretty good:

I just figured out how Siri can play my music on my phone while I drive.

I got to work early and sat in the car for a few minutes in stillness.

As a bonus, I got to work in one piece.

Even though I may have just lost a lucrative private tutoring client.

Even though my students aren’t listening.

In fact, Kylie and Josh are driving me crazy.

But not as crazy as the district and the state are making me with endless pointless assessments and a devastating lack of funding for necessary programs.

But this moment?  This moment is pretty good:

It’s December 3rd and it’s 80 degrees in San Diego with perfectly clear blue skies.

And a formerly wayward student just stopped by to tell me how well his new club is going in the library at lunch and I got to tell him how proud he should be of the work he’s doing.

And I get to be in love with the work that I am doing.

And Kylie #2 came in to tell me something about her life and said she wanted to tell me first.

Even though I have to call the doctor today to schedule surgery to remove a couple skin cancer-y things from my own face.

And even though my car is leaking oil.

And even though I just had to pay $15 to replace the gas cap that I stupidly left on my car after getting gas the other day and who knows where it is now?

But this moment?  This moment is pretty good:

I just played hooky from work and bought a California Burrito at the local taco shop.

And Richie Havens is playing “Here Comes the Sun” on the boombox.

And that was right after “Maggie May” by Rod Stewart.

And the lunch bell just rang.

And I’m writing.

And I’m writing.

And I’m writing.

Sure, life isn’t perfect.

There’s some stuff going on.

But this moment?

This one right here?

It’s pretty damned good.

In fact, it’s beautiful.  TZT

*Ignore my eyes.  I’m sure it’s just the Southern California pollen.
