Because you’re stressed.Because you’re calm, and you want to stay that way.

Because you can’t think straight.

Because you can think straight, but want to think straighter.

Because of the state of the world.

Because it’s Monday.

Because you want to step off The Merry-Go-Round.

Because of that one kid in third-period-who-shall-not-be-named.

Because you need peace and serenity.

Because of your cell phone addiction.

Because. . .teaching.

Because the cafeteria was out of your favorite chips.

Because the internet went out.

Because the internet is still working.

Because two of the most powerful men on the planet are playing chicken with the red buttons on their desks and there’s nothing we can do about it.

Because Justin Bieber is still making “music.”

Because dabbing, fidget spinners, and snacking on Tide Pods are still a thing.

Because it’s within your circle of influence.

Because you have an hour.

Because you have fifteen minutes.

Because you have three minutes.

Because you can take three deep breaths.

Because you will feel better.

Because science says the health benefits are real.

Because traffic sucked on the way to school this morning.

Because of that one colleague-who-shall-not-be-named-but-you-know-the-one-I’m-talking-about.

Because “Bridge Over Troubled Water” is on Pandora and it’s so, so sweet.

Because Present Moment Awareness is da bomb.

Because you want to be here. Now.

Because there’s nothing good on T.V.

Because you had a fight with your kid.

Because you had a fight with your spouse.

Because you had a fight with your mom or dad.

Because you love all of them.

Because you had a fight with yourself.

Because you love yourself.

Because you can.

Because it works.

How to Meditate in three easy steps:

1. Focus.
2. Breathe.
3. Focus on your breathing.

That’s all there is to it.

Now give it a whirl.  TZT

Dan’s Note: I think you get the picture that you don’t really need a reason. Put another way, ANY reason is a good reason to meditate. To learn what a basic meditation might look like, go here
